Siem Reap Itinerary: 2 to 3 Days
Siem Reap is the base for Angkor, the vast temple complex that is the reason most people come to Cambodia. Two days covers the small and grand temple circuits; a third adds a farther temple or a floating village. Here is a clean plan plus good places to stay near the old town.
| Suggested length | 2 to 3 days |
|---|---|
| Get around | Tuk-tuk for the temple circuits |
| Angkor pass | 1-day, 3-day or 7-day tickets |
| Next stop | Phnom Penh by direct bus, or a flight |
Day 1: the small circuit and sunrise
Start before dawn for sunrise at Angkor Wat, then follow the small circuit through Angkor Thom, the Bayon's stone faces and the tree-tangled Ta Prohm.
Day 2: the grand circuit
Take the quieter grand circuit to Preah Khan, Neak Pean and Pre Rup, then rest in town and explore Pub Street and the night market after dark.
Day 3: a farther temple or the lake
Add the pink-sandstone Banteay Srei and the river carvings of Kbal Spean, or visit a floating village on Tonle Sap lake.
